GENERAL APPEARANCE. Ollie is average height and scrawny from often having to scrounge for food. Her hair is dirty blonde, her eyes blue, and she often has symbols drawn in black on her hands and arms. Her posture isn't terrible, but can often draw into herself, and her gesture can be a bit twitchy and jerky, except when she's spellworking. Otherwise, she's fairly unremarkable.

ABILITIES. Ollie's magic primarily relies on spells and symbols, focusing on protection and defense. She can store spells and energy in symbols to be released when needed, such as shielding spells.

WORLD.

After being hunted and burned for years during the trials, the witches of the Western world went underground, hiding for centuries. At the turn of the twenty first century, they started plotting, and eleven years later the first war broke out.

Humans won, and the witches hid again, but this time those in control weren't content to simply leave them hiding, and the hunting continued.

In the Twenty Second century, most of the United States is still war torn, the government focusing only on rebuilding the bright cities where the richest citizens could afford to live. The rest of the population is left to fend for themselves, and most returned to a simpler way of life to support their families. Witches stay hidden, for fear of being caught by hunters or dealers. the hunters are part of the government force, while dealers catch and kill witches to trade body parts on the black market.

The city that used to be Indiana is controlled completely by witches, not that anyone has proof. They cover their tracks too well, always hiding when the hunters or dealers come through, deceiving the former and killing the latter. Within their own secret places, they practice their magic freely, teaching each other everything they can.

PERSONALITY.

Ollie is, without a doubt, shaped by her world, and especially the trauma that she's gone through because of her world. If she grew up in a kinder place, she'd be a lot less withdrawn and wary, and a hell of a lot more inclined to trust people. As it is, after being locked up and having her vocal chords cut, she's understandably a little reluctant to be around people who aren't hers. She trusts her coven with her life, but everyone else is regarded with caution.

It wouldn't be inaccurate to compare her to a stray cat that adopts a few people. She's hissy and kind of bitey around strangers, but once she trusts someone, she can be caring and affectionate. Although that affection is still limited, Ollie is kind, but even with people she trusts, openness isn't something that comes easily.

She lives life expecting everything good to be taken away in a second, which means growing too attached or complacent isn't an option for her, so even with those she trusts, she tends to keep them at a distance. Of all the 16 members of her coven, Ollie is the one they know the least about, and not just because she doesn't actually talk. It's just an unfortunate side effect of living in such a dangerous world; if she doesn't get close to people, it won't hurt so much when she loses them.

It makes for a lonely sort of existence. Despite being surrounded by people, Ollie often feels quite alone amongst them, and her focus is on day to day existence, on survival, rather than truly living. She has no interest in building relationships, because she doesn't have much hope beyond living to the next day.

None of this makes her mean or cruel; she has no interest in hurting people (unless they hurt her first), and she does feel quite strongly underneath her cool exterior, especially when it comes to protecting people she sees as vulnerable. In initial interactions, she can be gentle and friendly enough, it just never goes deeper than that, unless someone is willing to make a considerable effort.
